Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult
When I was growing up, I always thought that you needed natural artistic ability in order to draw, so I never even tried. Years later, I wanted to start a business, so I ended up needing someone to design a logo for me. At the time, I lived in a small town and couldn’t find anyone to do it for me. It was out of frustration that I drew my own logo. Great, it was not by any stretch of the imagination, and yet somehow a spark was lit in me: I wanted to be able to draw. Just like something sparked in you at some point. Then I went on to try to learn the secrets of the masters, just moving from one drawing course to the next. If I was lucky and got a good instructor, I got a little bit better. More often than not, though, the tutors just let you do your own thing-you had to find the “artist inside” yourself.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: Suddenly it was like a light was switched on
Then one day I sat at the dining room table working on a drawing. It suddenly hit me. I knew what was wrong. I knew why I wasn’t improving. I was drawing, but I didn’t know what I was drawing. From then on I devoted all my time to the attempt to understand what I was doing. No more drawing like a monkey see, monkey do type drawings for me. In a very short length of time my drawings went from this:
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: You can also draw like this
Let me show you how to draw absolutely anything you want by understanding what you are drawing. I will take you from the very beginning with what equipment you need in order to draw successfully, all the way through to drawing hyper realistic portraits.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: But it won’t take forever to learn
It took me years because I had to learn by trail and error. I will show you what I wish I knew at the beginning. In your first class I will show you what equipment you need and we will get a feel for our pencils. Even your very first full drawing will be gallery quality. This is the stunning drawing you will complete in your second class, after I have shown you how to see your tonal values correctly:
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: You will be amazed at how quickly you progress
Over the next 4 modules we will cover topics like shading, texture, negative drawing, and reflections. The way you will learn, however is not with any heavy classroom stuff. I hate that just as much as you. In each lesson we will spend a few minutes looking at the core concepts and dive right in and learn the meaningful way, the way that makes sense and lets you remember it forever-by doing an actual drawing, hands-on, step by step. Except this time at the end of the class you will know what you have done. For example: if we are learning about texture and we’re drawing the onions and garlic scene. I explain what to look out for show you how to render the texture itself and show you where possible problem areas are and how to find them. In other words, by the end of the class, you will be able to arrange your unique setup that contains onions and garlic and then draw it confidently. Unlike other classes that just teach you to draw that one particular picture.
Draw along in each class
Each class has been professionally filmed in real time so you can pack out your pencils for each class and actually draw along too.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: No matter where you are
As each class has been filmed using the latest technology you can watch the classes in front of your computer, or from your tablet in the studio, or even review a class on your phone in the train on the way to work.

You can set the quality of each class up for better quality, or down for lower bandwidth usage at any time during the class. After the spoon class, you will move on to draw these pencil studies:
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult:
You won’t believe your eyes
After the first six modules of the course, you won’t believe how quickly you have progressed and the quality of the work you have produced – now would be a good time to amaze your family with your new found artistic talent. You will probably even get a few commissions along the way.

Then you will learn how to draw realistic portraits
With your drawing confidence at a new found high it is time to take your ability to the next level by learning how to draw portraits. As with the previous classes you are never thrown into the deep end. We will start off with the easiest feature to draw, the eyes.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult:
How to draw realistic eyes
In this class, you will learn how to shade the different features of the eye: how to make the eye look glossy and wet, how to make the eye look recessed into the eye socket, how to draw realistic eyelashes and eyebrows, etc. By the end of this class, you will be confident to draw any eye, regardless of the color, and no matter which way the person is looking because you will understand how each element of the eye fits together and how they affect each other.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: How to draw realistic noses
In this nose class, you will be learning the subtle little shadings and reflections you need to look out for when you’re drawing. It’s these that make all the difference between a realistic looking nose and a flat, uninteresting one. You’ll learn how to make the nose appear to be raised up off the sheet of paper. By the end of this class, you will be able to draw any nose, at any angle, under any lighting situation because you will understand the mechanics of the nose and how the light affects it.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: How to draw realistic mouths
This is where you learn all the different parts of the mouth and what to look out for when you’re drawing them. You will also be learning how to make the lips look realistic, even with cracks in them that everybody fights with. You’ll learn how to make the teeth look sparkly and white. You will even learn how easy it is to show super fine detail like the reflections on the teeth. After the class you will be able to draw any mouth, whether it is closed, open, smiling, shouting, etc. because you will understand what you are drawing and know where the problem areas are and how to avoid them
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult:
How to draw realistic ears
Ears are something most artists try to avoid because they really struggle with them. In this class you will be learning about the six different areas of the ear and how each one is realistically drawn. You will no longer be afraid to ask your model to turn their head sideways because this will be an easy exercise after this lesson. You will know where the problem areas are and how to avoid them and you will know how to make the ear stand out off the face so that it looks three dimensional.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult: How to draw cheeks, chins, foreheads & necks
Most portrait courses stop after showing you how to draw the five main features of the face. That means you are left to your own to figure out how those all tie together. We will continue on by learning how all the features of the face all fit together. You will learn how to draw frown lines on the forehead and add a dimple on the chin. You will learn one of the most important yet, never mentioned features of the face, the neck. if you don’t draw the neck right, no matter how well you actually have drawn the face, that whole face comes out flat.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult:
How to draw realistic hair
The next module looks at how to draw realistic hair. This module covers the following areas: how to draw straight hair, curly hair, light hair, and dark hair. You will now learn how to create the impression that you have drawn every single strand of hair without actually having to do so. You will learn how to create depth, show the sunlit highlights on the hair, and how to make the hair appear to be receding away from you around the back of the head. You’ll also learn how to keep hair from ending up looking like a loose wig on top of the individual’s head. By the end of the class, you will be able to draw anybody’s hair confidently because you understand what you’re drawing and what to look out for in every individual.
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult:
How to draw realistic beards
Any portrait course would not be complete without teaching you how to draw beards. In this lesson, you will learn how to draw stubble, short beards, long beards, and even grey beards. You are going to be amazed at the easy technique used to do this. Here is just one of the beards you will learn to draw during this lesson:
Learning to draw is supposed to be difficult:
By this time drawing will be easy
By now you would have completed 26 hours of step-by-step, easy to follow training modules and are really, really confident with your drawing ability. You’re not having any problem at all to draw your friends and family members or if you still haven’t started it. With a bit more practice under your belt you will be able to take on portrait commissions and draw them so realistic they look like photos. You know how much money commissioned portraits cost? Well now you will know where that money is going-to your pocket.
